Have a look at this, its great if you love all types of graphic design.

My Space

This is my chosen space, me and my partner Woon chose this space because
it has a lot of things surrounding it which include different textures, colour and patterns,
We also like the freedom of the space.

The start of level 3

My first task

Task 1 - 3x3x3 Location

In pairs find a space measuring 3m x 3m x 3m within 5 minutes walk from the studio - you will need to be able to spend a minimum of 3 hours in your chosen space and need to revisit it over the next few week, so access is important.

Measure and mark the space - document yourselves doing this through drawing, film or photography. Each of you are asked to make a series of different drawings focusing on your chosen space for studio next week.

This is one of three tasks i will be set in this six week module, all the task will be based on the space we chosen some we will have to work with our partner and the others individually.

Songs that have meaning

Christina Perri

It took so long just to feel alright
Remember how to put back the light in my eyes
I wish I had missed the first time that we kissed
‘Cause you broke all your promises
And now you're back
You don't get to get me back

Who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?

Leona Lewis

i’ll pick you up when you’re down
be there when no one’s around
when you’re in unfamiliar places
count on me through life’s changes

i’m in tune with how you feel
everything bout this is real
when you’re in unfamiliar places
count on me through life’s changes

you’re all i want, yeah yeah
i know you’re the one, yeah
you’re all i want, yeah
i know you’re the one, yeah

crash into me
at full speed

crash into me
we can collide, we can collide

crash into me
at full speed
we can collide, we can collide
we can collide, we can collide

when you’re in unfamiliar places
count on me through life’s changes

know that you’re never alone
in me you can find a home

when you’re in unfamiliar places
count on me through life’s changes

you’re all i want, yeah (yeah)
you’re all i want (oh), yeah (yeah yeah)
you’re all i want, yeah (you are the one)
i know you’re the one, yeah (you are)

Grouped Sweets

This is a group of sweets i designed what can be used as a design
bases for wallpaper, posters and leaflets. I also used this design
on my packaging, stationary set (Business Card) and used some
of the shapes for message tags.

My Shop Logo

Filo Sweets

I was told about this clay which u can bake to it go's hard and is less easy to break.
I brought some from hobby craft as i thought this would be a good idea to make my
sweets out off. I made the sweets based on my final designs, i then arranged the in
different ways to help my create my logo.

I found this work which i really thought looked a bit like
the big lollies you can get from gifts shop and place you
go on holiday. It gave me an idea off making my own sweets.

These are my final group of sweets i based these on my first designs,
i used Instructor to create and prefect them, i chose these ones as
i think the shapes and colours work well together and i think there is a
good range of old and new sweets.

Scrumptiously Sweet Project

Penguin Book Cover

Worn effect

Rub Away effect

Total Rubber effect

The Spray effect

The Cutting effect

I chose to design my book cover based on type, as i have a
passion for typography and many of old penguin book mainly
used type on there cover. After reading the book it had an old feel
to it which i wanted to show in the type, i chose to spray cans to
create different effects.

"SEEN" Magazine Cover

This is my front cover of the magazine i chose to keep it simple, just using limited colours
and images. I chose a photo done by Cecil Beaton for the front page and simple text and some
shapes used in Alexey Brodovitch work for the back cover.

Cecil Beaton Magazine Spread

I used black and white text to convey the strength of the photo, i then used a rubber
to ware away the colour of the lettering so this would give the effect old type this
helped it blend in with the colours of the photo.

Cecil Beaton

Cecil Beaton is a famous black and white photography, who worked for
vanity fair and vogue during this time he took photos of many famous people
like twiggy and many others.

Alexey Brodovitch Magazine Spread

I used Brodovitch's idea of negative/white space to design my magazine spread.
I used words and images to create a good layout. I kept the colour and space simple
so it's easy to read and is able to see each element as it's own.

Alexey Brodovitch

I have a passion for typography and magazine design, this designer
really influence my magazine spreads i like his use of negative space
and i used this in my work.

"SEEN" Magazine

For one of my projects at uni we had to design a logo, magazine cover
and two spreads on what interests us. We were given the name of
magazine which is called "SEEN" so i started by designing my logo,
these are some of my beginning ideas.

These are the next steps to me logo, i designed
some ideas which i liked, so i then played around
with font and arranging the letters to create my
logo. I then moved onto size and colour.

Helvetica Posters

I designed these posters based on the font Helvetica,
I choose this font as i think its simple, easy to read and
i like the shapes of the letters, however many other
people have a different view on it to me. In both my posters
i used words and quotes that describe what people think
of the font and where you can see it.

This is some of the quotes:

"My favourite font is unfortunately one which will probably
annoy some people."

"It's a standard, plain and boring font. It has no life to it."

"I absolutely love Helvetica. It comes across as a strong
bold, clean font, that fits almost any design."

This logo i designed for myself it's based on my initials (SW).
I used used pencils to scretch different shapes based on
my initials, i then used card and paper to fold into the shape.
This process was very enjoyable as i like using different medias
to create my work, once i had the shape i liked i then moved
onto the computer to create the same idea.
